Reduce visual noise when reading an article

In any word processor, when I am reading an article I select parts of the content to help guide my eye.

In Flex, when I select a paragraph the right sidebar triggers an animation that hides »Ideas« and displays »Selection Actions« making me lose my reading focus.

I help myself by hiding the right sidebar,

but that makes Flex interactions less accessible
